When the need arises, our Private Secure units offer a safe, secured treatment setting while providing the comforts and attention that help create an ideal environment for the development of children and young adults with unpredictable, uncontrollable and at times dangerous behaviors.

Residents in IDTC’s Private Secure Unit may come to us through juvenile corrections, but would not be well served in traditional correctional programs. These children may be functioning at a borderline, mild or moderately mentally retarded range and may carry diagnoses that include:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Conduct Disorder
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder

Our staff prides itself on providing comprehensive individualized treatment based with the ultimate goal of preparing them for a rewarding life in less-restrictive environments, not keeping children in secure environments.

Our Private Secure Units provide the additional structure and supervision necessary to effectively treat children whose behaviors are unpredictable and dangerous and keep them from “falling between the cracks.”
