Autism Care and Extensive Supports Program

The Autism Care and Extensive Supports (ACES) Program at IDTC offers the additional care, structure, and supervision needed to provide treatment for dually diagnosed children who experience uncontrollable and unpredictable behaviors that significantly interfere with their day-to-day living. We have a highly professional staff, committed to developing and implementing creative treatment programs that support each student in their skill acquisition process.

Treatment in the ACES Program focuses on increasing communication skills, sensory integration, academic skills, and daily living skills with the overall goal of increasing independence. The program’s treatment techniques adhere to the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

ACES residents may be non-verbal, functioning at a moderate to severe range of mental retardation, seriously organically or neurologically impaired, and may carry diagnoses that include:

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder

The focus of our Autism Care and Extensive Supports Program is to develop and implement a variety of intervention and treatment strategies with specific outcome measures and criteria. This focus, coupled with additional treatment, support, structure and supervision help our students achieve skills, improve their day to day functioning, social and self-help skills, preparing them to reenter less restrictive settings.

In addition to our comprehensive treatment services, the ACES Program has the ability to offer a higher degree of staff supervision, depending on the needs of the child.
